The fonts of Union Station.
Wanna have some fun?
Weekday - 5:15 pm, north food court, Union Station:
- Pick up mix bag of carmel and cheese popcorn. Then get a cold beer from the ladies who sell cans from buckets of ice during rush hour.
Chug the beer, then try going back up & out the north exit against the flow of traffic. Woo hoo! (extra points if you're carrying luggage).
- Then turn around and let the hundreds of commuters carry you to whatever train is leaving next. Those people are totally friggin' serious about getting home, and they can sweep you onto the Antioch train against your will - just go with it. Already tipsy, you'll really appreciate the echoing refrains of the lady with the Chicago accent repeating "Track Number Nine, Track Number Nine, Track Number Eleven..."
- Then stagger onto a train and eat the entire bag of popcorn. Crap. You forgot napkins.
Note: if it's REALLY cold out, remember that the little-used entryway at Clinton and Jackson is always about ninety degrees.
Also note: the good "Union Station" font looks best in its natural habitat:
